Klay Thompson Injuries

Klay Thompson's Season Cut Short by Achilles Tear

Warriors Star Expected to Miss Entire 2022-23 Season

Thompson has missed the past two seasons due to injuries

Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has suffered a torn right Achilles tendon and will miss the entire 2022-23 NBA season, the team announced Thursday.

Thompson underwent successful surgery in Los Angeles on Friday, the Warriors said in a statement. The injury is a significant setback for Thompson, who has missed the past two seasons due to injuries.

In the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson suffered a torn ACL in his left knee which sidelined him for the entire 2019-20 season. He returned to the court for the 2020-21 season, but only played in 38 games before suffering a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg.

Thompson has been a key player for the Warriors, helping them win three NBA championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018. He is one of the best shooters in the league, and his absence will be a major blow to the Warriors' chances of competing for another title this season.

The Warriors are currently 20-18 this season and are in sixth place in the Western Conference. They will have to rely on their other stars, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, to step up in Thompson's absence.
