Flash Flood Warning Issued for New Orleans

Take Precautions as Heavy Rain Continues to Pummel the City

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flash flood warning for New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner, LA. The warning is in effect until 10:15 PM CST.

Heavy rain has been falling across the area since early this morning, and the NWS expects the rain to continue for several more hours.

The NWS urges residents to take precautions to avoid flooding, including:

  • Stay away from flooded areas.
  • Do not drive through flooded streets.
  • Move valuables to higher ground.
  • Be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
