Aston Villa Kit Will Have One Major Change For Champions League Debut

Aston Villa Kit Will Have One Major Change for Champions League Debut

Exclusive: Villa Break From Sponsors' Tie-Up

Aston Villa will sport a new-look kit for their upcoming Champions League debut, with a major change to their sponsorship arrangement.

The Premier League side have traditionally had their shirts emblazoned with the logo of W88, an Asian betting company.

However, following pressure from UEFA, Villa have been forced to remove the logo for their European fixtures.

UEFA's Gambling Stance

UEFA has strict rules against gambling sponsorship, and has been cracking down on clubs who violate them.

In 2018, Manchester City were fined £50,000 for displaying the logo of gambling company Marathonbet on their shirts during a Champions League match.

Villa are keen to avoid a similar fate, and have therefore decided to remove the W88 logo from their kits for European matches.

Villa's New Sponsor

It is understood that Villa are in talks with a number of potential new sponsors, but no deal has yet been agreed.

The club are hoping to secure a lucrative partnership that will help them to compete with the financial powerhouses of Europe.

Villa's first Champions League match will be against Valencia on September 17th.
